![]() Boy am I having problems. I seem to have messed up with my housekeeping and organizing files in Maya 2010. I started learning this software without setting up my projects directory's etc and all seemed fine but since I have learned more and started using the directory's in the project I.E sourceimages etc I have had problems. ![]() I have an object in my scene and it has a material assigned to it. I cannot see the texture in the scene, its default grey but when I render its there fine. All this happened when I started playing with the project set up. I have tried to place the correct image files into the sourceimages etc but its not working. I have gotten myself down this blind alley without enough troubleshooting knowledge to get out again. I'm no expert in Maya, but I hope I can help. I have had this happen a couple times and it usually seems to stem from one of three things: 1-The first thing is to make sure you hit 6 to show textured objects. 2-If I double click the file to open it (as opposed to opening Maya and setting the project first) I find that my textures don't load properly and I have to go through and reload the textures for each material or set the project and reload the file. Also, make sure you do have your textures stored in your source images folder in your project directory. 3-If its only happening in one viewport you might have the 'use default material' checked in your Shading menu for the view port. Just turn this off if it is checked. I hope one of these helps. Quote: we seem to have challenged each other to a kind of competition, he thinks of a task for my to do and when I've done it I throw one back at him. Quite fun and good way to learn I thought? In the case of a plane, both sides will have the same shader applied to it. Thus, if you have text in the texture, it will read normal on one side but reversed on the other. That's just the way Maya works. You could go the route of what Mike said and create a very thin cube. That way, it will have two physical sides instead of one and you can apply two different shaders to each side. There's an alternative method of connecting your initial textures if you're using the tutorial mentioned above. Instead of connecting each texture's Out Color attribute to the condition utility's Color 1 and color 2 attributes, try this instead: Connect the outer texture to the condition node's 'colorIfTrue' attribute. Then do the same for the texture you want on the inside, except connect it to the condition node's 'colorIfFalse' attribute. This CD will play on any CD player or car stereo. So in a few short steps, here's the whole thing: 1. Create a blinn, a condition node, and two textures (in my example below, a wood texture and checkerboard). Middle-mouse drag and drop the condition utility node onto the blinn and choose 'color'. Now, connect the textures (mmb, click and drag) as I mentioned above. If we want the wood on the outside of our object (the direction the normals are facing), you'll connect that to the condition utility's 'colorIfTrue' attribute. It fixed the Mac devkit issue in previous devkit and removed a test case added. Workaround for Maya 2018 WPF sample not showing again after closing it. When giving a texture mailbox to the compositor, it's important to give a sync point along with it, so the browser compositor does not display the texture before it is ready. The blinn will take on the color of whichever you have plugged into 'coloriftrue.' So, connect the other texture to the condition node's 'colorIfFalse'. Create a sampler info node and middle-mouse drag and drop it on the condition node and choose 'other' which will open the connection editor. Connect Sampler Info's 'Flipped Normal' into the condition's 'First Term' and you should be good to go.
